Wayne L. Finley, 87, of Arvada, Colorado, passed away on October 30, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Wayne was born in a farmhouse in Labette County, Kansas, to Arthur "Cy" and Mary Finley (née Gittins). After training as a machinist in vocational school, he moved to Denver in 1961 to begin building his future. He proudly served in the United States Army from 1962 to 1964 before returning to Denver, where he continued his machinist career and later entered the HVAC-R industry. His dedication and hard work led to a long career as a union pipefitter with Local 208.
In April 1971, Wayne married the love of his life, Gwen Finley (née Anderson). Together they shared nearly 50 years of marriage before Gwen's passing in 2021. In 1973, they settled in Arvada, where they built their home, raised their family, and became part of the community Wayne would call home for more than five decades.
Wayne loved the outdoors and enjoyed water skiing, snow skiing, camping, and spending time with family. He was especially proud to serve as a Boy Scout leader for his two sons, sharing his love of adventure and the outdoors with them.
His greatest joy was his family, and his granddaughters held a special place in his heart. He was proud of Hannah, Cadence and Addyson “Addy”.
Wayne was preceded in death by his wife, Gwen; his parents, Arthur "Cy" Finley and Mary Finley (née Gittins); his sister, Marie Ward (Dennis).
He is survived by his sons, Barry R. Finley and Curtis A. Finley (Becky); his granddaughters, Hannah (Jake), Cadence (Javi), and Addy; and his sister, Maxine Crogle (Fred).
Wayne will be remembered for his strong work ethic, service to his country, love of the outdoors, and unwavering devotion to his family. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Funeral service details will be shared at a later date.
