Susan Donaldson Obituary

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Susan "Sue" Hall Donaldson, an awesome/cherished wife, mother, sister, and friend, who left us on the 15th of August, 2024. Sue was born on the 27th of August, 1953, in Addison, Illinois, and her vibrant spirit came to a peaceful rest in Wheat Ridge, Colorado. She faced her battle with breast cancer with the same courage and grace that characterized her entire life.

Sue's journey began in the heartland of Illinois, but her passion and dedication led her to Colorado, where she pursued a career in nursing. A proud alumni of Regis University in Denver, she graduated with high honors, earning her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing and her Registered Nurse license. Sue's commitment to healthcare spanned nearly four decades, most of which she spent with Kaiser Permanente. Her compassion and expertise touched the lives of countless individuals across various practices, including OBGYN, Pediatrics, Family Practice, and hospital specialties.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Sue's zest for life was evident in her multitude of interests and hobbies. An avid skier, she shared her skills as an instructor at Copper Mountain and Breckenridge Ski Resorts. Her love for the outdoors extended to ice hockey, gardening, and hiking mountains. Sue's adventurous spirit took her to faraway countries, and she found joy in paddleboarding, rafting, and biking. At home, she was an extraordinary cook, a talent her husband Daniel always praised, saying she was "one of the world's best." Her hands were rarely still, as she found pleasure in sewing, reading books, playing card games like a wizard, and caring for her beloved hummingbirds and her prized duo mini-dachshunds pups, Rambo and Pinball.

Sue's life was a testament to the power of joy and the importance of family. She leaves behind her loving husband, Daniel Donaldson, her proud sons, Jeffrey Hall and Kevin Donaldson, beloved daughter in-law Krystle Hall, and treasured grandgirls, Kaitlyn Hall and Kinsley Hall. Her memory will also be forever cherished by her brothers, Roy Dombeck and Scott Dombeck.

As we remember Sue, we are comforted by words that mirror the way she lived her life, by Ralph Waldo Emerson, "To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children... to leave the world a bit better... to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded." Sue indeed succeeded, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of those who knew her and making the world a bit brighter with her unwavering kindness and infectious enthusiasm.

Sue's legacy is one of love, persistence, learning, hard work, and the enduring strength of the human spirit. Her memory will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her, and her light will shine on in the lives she touched. Though she may have left the physical world, her spirit remains a guiding force of love and resilience.

As we bid farewell to Sue, we celebrate a life beautifully lived and a journey completed with honor. Her memory will be treasured forever in the hearts of her family, friends, and all who were graced by her presence. Sue's departure from this earth is not an end, but a transformation into the countless stories and memories that will continue to live on through those who loved her.

In remembrance of Sue, let us hold close the joy she brought into our lives and the lessons she taught us through her example. May her spirit continue to soar as freely as the hummingbirds she adored, and may we find comfort in the knowledge that her love remains with us always.

Per Susan's wishes the family will be holding a private memorial service at a later date.
