It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Stephen Thomas Herhager, age 70, after a courageous battle with cancer. He passed away peacefully on April 1, 2025 in his home in Arvada, CO. He spent his last days with his family.
Steve was born on July 5, 1954 and lived a full and meaningful life. He spent 24 years at Rocky Flats as a Radiation Containment Technician and later worked for 14 years at United Airlines as a baggage handler, enjoying his time at both.
Steve was a skilled craftsman, known for building beautiful ski furniture with his small business Deckware by Steve. In his younger years, he was a passionate skier and spent time sailing on his Hobie Cat sailboat on Lake McConaughey every summer.
A devoted father, Steve is survived by his two children, son Eric and daughter in law Lauren, and daughter Robyn and son in law Joe, who were the light of his life. He was also a loving husband to Bev and a cherished brother to his two sisters, Alice and Cheryl, as well as to his late brother, Dave.
Steve was known for his sharp wit and infectious smile, always able to make the best of any situation and bring joy to those around him. He had an incredible ability to lighten the mood and create laughter, even in the most difficult of times. He will be remembered for his kindness and his dedication to family.
