Rudolph Arthur Ortiz, known to friends and family as Big Rudy. Born on September 3, 1957, in Ogden, Utah but lived the majority of his life in Denver, Colorado.
During his final hours, Rudy was showered with lots of love. He took his last breath on October 9th in Thornton, Colorado. Rudy went on to reunite with his beloved mother Viola, his sister Connie, his nieces Desiree and Margaret, his three Brother-In-Laws, and a several other loved ones who passed before him.
Rudy leaves behind his wife Marie, their children Marina (Hector), Sebrina aka "His birthday gift" (Danny), and his only son Little Rudy. The legacy continues with his grandchildren Victor III, Anthony Jr, Xavier, Davian, Nevina, Derek, Yesenia, Avery, Hector Jr, and Bentley, and his adorable great-grandchildren Viola, Zara, Jason, and Saint, who will no doubt inherit his zest for life.
He also leaves behind his siblings Juana, Virgie, Albert, Bobby, Alice, Terry, and Sally, several In-Laws, his cherished Godchildren Sammy, Mary, and Sierra, and LOTS of nieces and nephews.
Rudy loved to listen to music, drink beers, watching sports, celebrate with family and friends and enjoyed the time he spent with them. He used to enjoy camping and fishing back in the day with family, friends and with his oldest daughter Marina because as a kid she enjoyed camping as much as he did. He liked to outplay, or I should say try to outplay anyone who wanted to play cards against him especially when it came to his daughter Sebrina and his son Rudy. Most of us can agree that he was really good at Texas Hold'Em and Rummy. He enjoyed western and action movies but let's not forget the kids' movies like 'Ice Age', as Sid was his favorite character from that movie which eventually became a nick name that he gave his son in the early 2000s.
As tough as an old cowboy boot on the outside, Rudy was a teddy bear at heart, spreading love and care to everyone he loved and met through his life. Rudy was tough, resilient and he was also super stubborn, which we all know that stubbornness runs in his family, look at who his siblings are and yes, I mean ALL of them lol. What can I say, we all know where they got it from, their beautiful mom along with their caring hearts.
Rudy worked many years for the Union Pacific Railroad, where he eventually retired from. During that time, the coworkers he worked with became really good friends of his which sadly throughout the years he lost contact with.
As time goes on, the stories and memories of our beloved Dad will continue to echo in the hearts of those he left behind.
So, here's to Big Rudy, a man who knew that "Life was not perfect but living it was worth it". Dad, you used your personality and heart to set the world ablaze with love and joy, and for that, we thank you. Rest Easy, We Love you and you will truly be missed!
