Roger Curtis Obituary

Roger Lewis Curtis, who was born on August 9, 1941, in Independence, Iowa, passed away of natural causes on June, 23, 2026 in Denver, Colorado.

He lived a life marked by intelligence, gentleness, and friendliness, and he will be remembered with affection. Roger enjoyed meeting new people and sharing conversation with his neighbors on a range of topics. Those who spent time with him knew him as someone who was thoughtful in conversation, gentle in soul, and kind in the way he treated others.

Growing up in Iowa Roger had many adventures with his brothers, Richard, Keith, and Ken. After graduation Roger served his country in the United States Air Force where he first learned computer programming and helped to develop early missile guidance systems.

After the service to his country, he continued his interest in computer programming which formed the basis for his professional life and eventually went on to attend the Community College of Denver.

Roger had a mind that enjoyed systems, signals, and the satisfying mystery of how things worked. In addition to computer programming he liked ved electronics, short wave radio, and listening to music, which means he was equally at home with a keyboard, a microphone, a soldering iron, or a radio dial. Never one to settle for nostalgia he loved to discover new bands and instilled that love into his son. He also enjoyed karaoke, which gave him an opportunity to relax, share laughter, and spend time with others and was always fond of telling others “Prop me up beside the jukebox if I die.”

Roger leaves behind many who will remember him fondly. He is survived by his son, Michael Curtis, and by his grandchildren, Breckyn, Trent , and Clara Curtis. He is also survived by his brothers, Keith Curtis and Ken Curtis. He was preceded in death by his mother, Eula Ione Satterlee, his father, Richard Maurice Curtis, his brother Richard Curtis as well as his sons Eric and Benjamin Curtis.

Roger was a man of practical talents and quiet depth, someone who could appreciate both the precision of a computer program and the unpredictability of a good karaoke performance. He found enjoyment in the hum of electronics and the comfort of music which suited a man who knew how to listen carefully and laugh when the moment called for it.

Roger will be remembered with love and will continue to be celebrated in the hearts of his family and friends. Though he has passed from this life the memories he created with those around him will endure.

Roger will be interred at Ft Logan Cemetery in Denver, Colorado
