Robert David Gertje, known affectionately as Robert to his friends and family, passed away peacefully on January 24, 2024, at the age of 64 in his hometown of Denver, Colorado. Born on January 2, 1960, in Denver, he was a man deeply rooted in his community and cherished by those who knew him.
Robert's early life was filled with the joys of growing up in the scenic landscapes of Colorado. He attended Force Elementary School, moved on to Kepner Jr High, and finally JFK High School, all within Denver.
Professionally, Robert dedicated many years to his craft as a cabinet maker. His skilled hands and keen eye for detail brought beauty and function into the homes of many, earning him respect and admiration in his field.
Beyond his professional life, Robert was a man of simple interests. He had an enduring love for classic rock, often found humming along to the tunes of legendary bands. Friends will fondly remember the warmth of his company and the pleasure of sharing a good drink and interesting conversation with him.
Survivors include his daughter Kendra Dodge (Gertje), his mother, Waltraut Gertje (Genders), and his sisters Rosemarie Mccullough (Gertje) and Regina Bremer (Gertje). He was predeceased in death by his father John Gertje.
Robert's Celebration of life will be held from 1:30 to 4 on February 16th, 2024 at Swiss Cottage Gatherings and Events at 9840 W 44th ave. Wheat Ridge, CO 80033
