Robert Joseph Bishop, a cherished husband, father, grandfather and decorated veteran, passed away peacefully on January 7, 2026, in Arvada, Colorado, at the age of 60. Born on August 24, 1965, in Denver, Colorado, Robert's life was marked by unwavering dedication to his family and country.
Robert's early years in Denver laid the foundation for a life characterized by love and service. He was the beloved son of the late William and Floy Bishop and brother to the late Bill Bishop. His formative years were filled with the warmth of family and the values that would guide him throughout his life.
Upon graduating from high school, Robert felt a strong call to serve his nation. He enlisted in the United States Army, embarking on a distinguished 24-year career that would see him rise through the ranks and earn numerous commendations for his leadership and bravery. His service to the country was a source of great pride for Robert and his family, and his legacy of honor and duty remains an inspiration to all who knew him.
While stationed in California, Robert met and married the love of his life, Dawn. Shortly after marrying, they relocated to Colorado to finish out his military career and to be closer to his family. Together, they built a life filled with joy, laughter, and mutual respect. Their home was a haven of hospitality, where friends and family were always welcomed with open arms and warm hearts.
Robert was a devoted father to his daughters, Cortney (Gavin) Montgomery and Kaley (Justin) Taylor. He instilled in them the values of kindness, integrity, and perseverance. His guidance and support helped shape them into the remarkable women they are today. As a grandfather, he cherished every moment spent with his granddaughter, Marley Taylor, whose bright spirit brought him immeasurable happiness.
Those who knew Robert will remember him as a loving and thoughtful man. His ability to listen with empathy and offer wise counsel made him a trusted friend and confidant. His sense of humor and infectious laugh could light up a room, and his presence was a comfort to many.
