Penelope Joan Groves, affectionately known as Penny to all who knew her, passed away peacefully at the age of 77 on September 11, 2025, in Westminster, Colorado. Born on January 2, 1948, in Denver, Colorado, Penny was a strong and resilient woman. She was the daughter of the late Virginia and Kenneth Baker and the sister of the late Bruck Baker.
Penny's life was marked by her passionate and kind spirit. She was a devoted mother to her daughters, Kimberly Kamsickas and Laurie Hutchings, and loved being Nana to her grandsons, Thomas Accardi and Kenny Hutchings. She loved her family wholeheartedly and shaped each of them through her resilience and kindness. She is also survived by her nephews and niece; Brett, Elliot, and Manda Baker.
After a fulfilling career, Penny embraced retirement, finding tranquility and inspiration in photography, capturing the beauty of wildlife and the majestic mountains. Her photographs often reflected her deep appreciation for nature's splendor and served as a testament to her artistic eye and patience.
We honor the life of Penny Groves—a loving mother, nana, and friend. Her journey may have come to an end after a brief series of illnesses, but her story will be recounted with fondness and admiration for generations to come. Penny's presence was a gift to us all, and her memory will be cherished as we celebrate the remarkable woman she was.
