Mary Kathrine Valdez, lovingly known as “Kathy,” was called home to Heaven on February 26, 2026, in Denver, Colorado, surrounded by love. She was born on February 1, 1953, in Delta, Colorado, and from the very beginning, she carried a strength and love that would define her life.
Kathy was a woman of resilience, warmth, and unwavering devotion to her family. Though her early years were not always easy, she chose love. She chose kindness. She chose to root for the underdog. She never allowed her circumstances to harden her heart. Instead, she built a legacy of compassion, laughter, and fierce protection over those she loved.
Kathy’s greatest pride and joy were her children, Anthony Patrick Rodriguez and Emilio Fabian Rodriguez. She celebrated their victories, carried their burdens, and loved them with a strength that cannot be measured. She also shared her life with her husband, Lee Valdez, and together they built a family rooted in love.
Her legacy continues through her grandchildren: Anastashia Rodriguez, Fantashia Velasquez, Austin Velasquez, Robert Escareno, Amadea Martinez, Inez Martinez, multiple additional grandchildren, her Goddaughters Vanessa Valdez, Lisa Rodriguez and Juay Montoya who all loved her dearly.
Great-Grandchildren: Marciano Escareno, Maxamias Escareno, Makhi Escareno, Anthony Velasquez, Augest Velasquez, Austin Velasquez, Ariyah Velasquez, and Autumn Velasquez. Each of them carries a piece of her strength, her laughter, and her heart.
Mary Kathrine Valdez leaves behind a legacy of fierce love, resilience, faith, family unity, and admirable strength. Though her absence leaves a profound ache, her spirit lives on through us.
We find peace knowing she is now resting in the arms of Jesus, whole, healed, and reunited with eternal love.
Funeral services will be held on March 12, 2026, at The Crossing Church in Westminster, Colorado, with burial to follow at Crown Hill Cemetery
