Joseph “Joe” Allen Ornelas, 43, passed away on November 11, 2025, in Aurora, Colorado. Born on April 9, 1982, Joe brought warmth, humor, and a generous heart into the lives of everyone who knew him. His presence was a source of strength and comfort to his family, and his memory will forever be cherished.
A skilled mechanic, Joe took pride in working with his hands and had a natural talent for fixing anything put in front of him. He loved music of all kinds and dreamed of learning to play the guitar. Joe found peace in the simple joys of life—especially fishing, spending time outdoors, and being surrounded by the people he loved. He had a deep appreciation for history, collected swords, and enjoyed learning about the past. Joe also never missed a chance to enjoy his mom’s cooking, which always brought him comfort and joy. His caring spirit and the genuine way he connected with others made him someone people were drawn to.
Joe is survived by his father Chris; his mother Roxanne; his older brother Chris II; and his sisters Renita (Greg), Rachael (David), and Heather (George). He is also survived by his beloved sons, Khiree Ornelas and Sonny Ornelas, as well as his bonus children, Matthew and Isabella. Joe leaves behind his grandfather Richard Trujillo and grandmother Virginia Sweeney, along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews, and extended family who loved him deeply.
He is preceded in death by his twin brother, Jesse Ornelas; grandparents Sonny Ornelas, Roberta Trujillo, and John Sweeney Sr.; and his aunt, Natalie Vigil. Joe is now reunited with them in eternal peace.
A graduate of Arvada West High School, Joe will be remembered for his big heart, his devotion to his family, and the unmistakable way he made people feel welcomed and valued. His absence leaves a tremendous void, but the love he shared will continue to live on in all who were blessed to know him.
Joe will be profoundly missed and forever loved.
