Joanne Roberta Christenson

Joanne R. Christenson, known as Joanie by most, passed away the early morning, February 25, 2026, Northglenn, Colorado at the age of 89.  She was born on November 12, 1936 in St. Paul, Minnesota to Robert and Mildred Carlson where she grew up and attended Grade School, High School and Business School.  She married Glenn Christenson and they moved to Cambridge, Minnesota to start their family.

They moved to Colorado in 1972 were Joanie worked at the Broomfield Bank, now Wells Fargo, where she retired as a vice president.   She retired in 1995 and they moved to Glendale, Arizona.  Joanie and Glenn spent 27 years there in retirement and Glenn passed away in 2022 when Joanie moved back to Colorado to be near family.

Joanie is survived by her son, Ken Christenson (Angela) and daughter, Suzi Shankweiler (Mark).  She is also survived by 2 granddaughters and one grandson, Brittany, Tiffany and Michael.  Joanie also had 8 great-grandchildren.  She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.  She will be missed by all.

There will be a Memorial service on Monday, April 13th at North Metro Church at 10 am.  There will be a light lunch following the service.  Then there will be a short service at Fort Logan National Cemetery at 2:30 pm as she will be placed next to her husband, Glenn.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be given to North Metro Church or Faith Christian Academy in memory of Joanne Christenson.
