Jeffrey Scott Mewis, known to his friends and loved ones as Jeff, was the kind of guy who brought light and laughter into every room he entered. Born in the small town of Brush, Colorado, on January 23, 1964, Jeff infused his 61 years with humor and kindness. On June 26, 2025, in Federal Heights, Colorado, Jeff took his final bow, leaving behind a legacy of joy and countless cherished memories.
Jeff was the life of the party, even when that party was just a regular Tuesday night at home. His love for comedies was only surpassed by his own ability to tickle your funny bone, a talent that served him well through the ups and downs of life. Not only could he quote the greats, but Jeff lived by the words of the legendary Robin Williams, "You're only given a little spark of madness. You mustn't lose it." Jeff's spark never dimmed, not even in the face of heart failure, which ultimately claimed his life.
He was the beloved son of the late Gayle and Vera Mewis, a devoted husband to his wife Linda, and a proud father to Jennifer and Jeff Jr. His stepdaughters, Amber and Deanna, will miss his impromptu comedy shows and his unwavering support. Jeff was also a cherished brother to Douglas (Karen) Mewis, Laura (Dexter) Cooper, Kenny (Margaret) Mewis, and Kathy (Paul) Griffin, all of whom shared in the joy and madness of having Jeff in their lives.
Jeff's academic journey took him through the halls of Highland High School and led to an Associates Degree in Accounting. His professional path saw him become an integral part of the Kleen Tech family, where his colleagues not only respected his intellect but adored his humor. Jeff's knack for numbers was only matched by his ability to find the funny in the fiscal.
His interests were as varied as his punchlines. An avid hunter and camper, Jeff knew that the great outdoors was the perfect backdrop for life's best jokes. He was also a die-hard Broncos fan, and even when they lost, he'd say, "At least we're not the Raiders!" His ability to find a silver lining, or at least a good laugh, even in defeat, was one of his most endearing qualities.
Jeff was loving, funny, and intelligent – a man who knew that life was too important to be taken seriously. He was the embodiment of the phrase, "To live is to laugh," and he lived and laughed fully.
Today, we say goodbye to a man who was more than just the sum of his years. Jeff Mewis was a beacon of love and laughter, a man who would have wanted us to chuckle even through our tears. So, as we remember Jeff, let's honor him in the way he would have wanted: by living with a little spark of madness and never letting the laughter die.
