Jeanette Lee DeHerrera Castillo, age 49, passed away unexpectedly over the weekend of 4/17/2021. She is survived by her three children, who made up the entirety of her world, Natalie Castoreno (age 31), Janessa Castillo (age 22), and Brian Cordova Jr. (age 19). She is also survived by her partner, Brian Cordova Sr., her parents, Leroy DeHerrera and Juanita Loera (sp. Ron Loera), her sister Elaine Duran, brother Gary Balerio, and several nieces, nephews, cousins and many, many friends.
Jeanette was born March 3, 1972 in Denver, the city where she also grew up and later lived with her family. As a child, our grandma claims she should’ve been an only child. She wanted our grandma’s sole attention and love. After her teenage rebellion years, she found her purpose as a mom. As a young adult, she graduated with her Associate’s in Applied Sciences in 2001, but then devoted her time to raising her children. Jeanette was a complex person. She was funny and passionate. It was clear she had a big mind, and an ever bigger heart. She was fierce and resilient, and loyal to a fault. She accumulated so much life experience, she became the go-to person to call whenever anyone needed out of a dilemma.
Nothing breaks our hearts more than having a world (or home) that no longer has her in it. She wasn’t one in a million but one of a kind, and it was an honor to have shared this life with her. Rest In Peace. She will remain to be our dearest forever.
Her memorial services will be held Tuesday, April 27th at The Crossing Church of the Nazarene at 10am, with a reception to follow.
