James Michael Kramer, known affectionately to friends as Michael, passed away on November 20, 2023, at the age of 56. Born on August 11, 1967, in Tucson, Arizona, Michael’s life was a testament to his adventurous spirit, thoughtful nature, and his unique ability to light up a room with his humor.
After a valiant struggle with illness, Michael departed this world in Lonetree, Colorado, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories. Predeceased by his father John Kramer, mother Marilyn Blee, and brother Robert Kramer, Michael’s indomitable spirit and joy for life continue to inspire all who knew him.
Michael’s journey in education took him to the sunny campus of Florida State University, where he pursued his passion for journalism with vigor and dedication. His time at the university was not just about academic achievement; it was also where he fostered lifelong friendships and honed his skills in storytelling and critical thinking—skills that would serve him well throughout his life.
Upon completing his studies, Michael answered the call of duty and served his country with distinction as an M48-M60 Army Crewman. His service was marked by commendable dedication, earning him several accolades including an Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, and an Army Achievement Medal with a 2nd Oak Leaf Cluster. Those who served alongside him remember Michael not just for his bravery and skill, but for the camaraderie and warmth he brought to every mission.
Michael’s interests were as varied as they were passionate. A well-traveled individual, he delighted in exploring new destinations, absorbing the culture, and making friends in every corner of the globe. Back at home, he was a fervent supporter of the Florida Gators, his enthusiasm for his team as infectious as his laughter. In the kitchen, Michael was a maestro, wielding his culinary skills to create dishes that were as much a feast for the senses as they were a display of his love for cooking.
To say Michael was thoughtful is an understatement; he had an uncanny ability to sense the needs of others and act with kindness and consideration. His sense of humor was legendary—quick-witted and always ready with a joke, he believed in the power of laughter to bring people together. Above all, Michael was adventurous. He embraced the twists and turns of life with courage and curiosity, always eager to discover what lay just over the horizon.
Michael’s absence leaves a void in the hearts of those who knew him, but his influence remains undeniable. His stories, his laughter, his zest for life—they echo in the memories of friends, a comforting reminder of a life well-lived.
As we bid farewell to James Michael Kramer, we celebrate a man who was so much more than the sum of his achievements. He was a beacon of joy, a cherished confidant, and a true friend. Though he has embarked on his final journey, the footprints he leaves behind on the sands of time are indelible.
In honoring Michael’s memory, we reflect on the words of Helen Keller: “What we have once enjoyed we can never lose; All that we love deeply becomes a part of us.” Michael’s spirit, his love, and his laughter are now a part of us—forever woven into the fabric of our lives.
Rest in peace, dear Michael. Your journey here is complete, but your story—replete with adventure, laughter, and love—will be told for generations to come.
