Helyn Sue (Wolfe) Eitelman

January 17, 2022

Helyn Sue Wolfe was born in Dallas, Texas.  As she was growing up, she enjoyed music, sports, and Sunday school. She lettered in swimming, and that love for swimming led to becoming a lifeguard and camp counselor. She also developed a lifelong love for animals, sharing her home with pets her entire life.  Helyn graduated from Sunset High School in Dallas.  She excelled in academics which earned her a scholarship to Southern Methodist University.  While she was a student at SMU, she loved playing volleyball, tennis, and field hockey.  She excelled mostly in swimming, earning numerous honors.  She was elected to the Mortar Board Honor Society and earned a music degree in piano.  She taught school for a few years after graduating from college. She then began using this talent to teach piano lessons in her home while her daughters attended elementary school through high school.  She worked for several years as a bookkeeper for Pierce Builders, a prominent custom home builder in Dallas. During all of this time, she played the organ for her church in Richardson, Texas. In 1986, Helyn moved to Santa Fe New Mexico.  She worked as a bookkeeper and manager for two restaurants, one while she was still residing in Richardson, Texas and one in Santa Fe, New Mexico.  After a couple of years in New Mexico, she decided to move to Denver, Colorado, where she was an assistant administrator for Wide Horizon, a Christian Science Care facility.  In 1992, she became a Christian Science practitioner, listed in the Christian Science Journal. She devoted her life to helping others.  During this time, she also played the organ and piano for two Christian Science churches in the Denver area.  While playing the organ for the church in Golden, she took a break for three years to serve as First Reader.  She spent almost 25 years playing the pipe organ for Sixth Church of Christ, Scientist in Denver.  She also spent many years serving the church as a board member and on many other committees.  She always had an appreciation for nature and developed a talent for photography, capturing beautiful scenery in Alaska, Scotland, New Mexico, and Colorado.  Helyn will always be remembered mostly for her patriotism and love for America, truly seeing the good in others, and wanting to help people grow in their spiritual understanding of God.  She was a very devoted mother and grandmother. Helyn passed peacefully in her home in Littleton, Colorado on January 17, 2022.   She will be lovingly missed by her two daughters, Vickie Sarah Cosson, son in law, David Cosson; Laurie Lee Schubert Menges, son in law, Chuck Menges; her beautiful granddaughter, Marilyn Ruth Cosson; her niece, Betty Sue Welch and nephew, Robert Hagerman.
