Gunda Wiedenhoff, a resident of Arvada, Colorado died on August 8, 2025, after recently celebrating her 100th Birthday. She was a former longtime resident of Wheatland, Iowa.
Gunda was born Kunigunde Martin in Oberasbach, Bavaria, Germany, to George and Babette (Kiessling) Martin, on June 13, 1925. She married Victor Wiedenhoff, a U.S. soldier, in Oberasbach , on January 15, 1949, and on the following August 17th she came to the United States and became a naturalized U.S. citizen on March 21, 1955.
Gunda was well known as a waitress at the Triangle in Wheatland for 30 years. She was a member of the Wheatland American Legion Auxiliary for over 70 years and was a member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Wheatland. She loved her flower gardens, baking german tortes, playing cards, fishing and collecting cookbooks. She was an avid knitter and won awards at the county and state fair.
Gunda is survived by her children; Dean (Lee) Wiedenhoff, of Clinton, Iowa, Linda (Jim) Wiedenhoff, of Arvada, Colorado, and Karl (Diane) Wiedenhoff, of Thornton, Colorado along with three granddaughters, one step-granddaughter four great-grandchildren and three step great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Victor, her parents and her five siblings Georg Martin, Elisabeth (Liesl) Renner, Helene (Lena) Waiseck, Hans Martin, and Heinrich (Henry) Martin.
Plans will be made at a later date for a ceremony at St. Paul’s Cemetery in Wheatland.
