Eugene Carelli Obituary

Eugene John Carelli, Jr., known to all as John or Gene, was a man who lived life with the kind of humor that could light up even the darkest room. Born on January 24, 1948, in the mountain-framed city of Denver, CO, John set out on life's stage with a twinkle in his eye and a joke at the ready. He took his final bow on July 2, 2024, in Lafayette, CO, after a brave performance against cancer, leaving behind a legacy of laughter and love.

John's early acts were filled with the bustling energy of Denver, where his parents, Eugene and Marjory Carelli, introduced him to the world. He grew up to be a man of many talents. He studied at Metropolitan State College. For many years, he was a constant at the Safeway Distribution Center, as well as Teamsters Local 455.

If laughter is the best medicine, then John was a master healer. He was the loving husband to his leading lady, Anita Carelli. Together, they raised a trio of co-stars: Gina Castillo (Carlos), Marissa Taylor, and Anthony Carelli, who each inherited a bit of their dad's sarcastic wit. His adoring grandchildren, KyLee Castillo, Lana Taylor, Gabriela Castillo, and Vincent Taylor, will forever cherish their grandpa's playful spirit.

John's siblings, Vicki Bradley (Stan) and Sandy Long (Phil), will miss him immensely. He now joins his sister Cindy Bradshaw (Rick), and his parents, leaving behind countless memories of laughter and joy.

Vacations were never dull with John in charge, especially when the destination was Disney. His love for camping and fishing was only matched by his passion for theater and movies.

John's life was a masterclass in generosity, his pockets seemingly endless pits for his grandkids. He was the family's personal comedian, always ready with a bad dad joke, a man whose humor was as infectious as his generous spirit. John taught us all that life doesn't have to be all drama; it can also be full of love and laughter.

So, let's not say goodbye to Eugene John Carelli, Jr. His final curtain call may have come, but the encore of his influence will continue in the lives he touched, the stories he told, and the laughter he left behind. John, you were a one-of-a-kind original, and the world is a bit less vibrant without you. Curtain down, laughter forever.
