Charles James LaCrue Jr., known lovingly as Chuck, (Chucky) was born July 21, 1970, in Denver, Colorado, and passed away in the same city on July 14, 2026, after facing medical issues with quite courage. He had a warmth that could fill a room, a laugh that could lighten any burden, and a witty spirit that held steady through every season.
Chuck was the eldest son of Charles James LaCrue Sr. and Rebecca Padilla-LaCrue, and brother to John and Alicia LaCrue. He was a proud father to Ashley LaCrue, Gabriel LaCrue, Emma LaCrue, and Nicholas Trujillo, and found deep joy in his granddaughters, Ellyana and Zhavia.
He attended North High School, where he played football and spent countless hours at the Boys club, where he played basketball. Those years shaped a lifelong loyalty to the people and places that mattered to him.
In his working life, Chuck served the The City and County of Denver for a time, worked at CoorsTek, and later worked for Office Tech.
Chuck was spiritual in his beliefs, and that quiet faith showed itself in his kindness and in the room he always made in his heart for others. He was a die hard Broncos and Nuggets fan and, in his younger years, enjoyed fishing, hunting, and camping with his dad, brother, uncles, and cousins.
Those who knew him best will remember him for his love of music, and as a character who was blunt, funny, loving, and a man with a rare gift for making people smile and a heart he gave fully to what mattered most.
Now he rests in peace. Though his journey has ended, Chuck will live on in the stories told of him, the laughter he sparked, and the love he gave. May his memory be held dear, and may he be granted everlasting rest.
