Brian Charles Olson: A Rock with a Wry Smile (1947-2023)
On April 29, 2023, the world lost a true gem of a man, Brian Charles Olson, born on November 1, 1947, in Los Angeles, California. Like a lighthouse in a storm, Brian guided his family through life with unwavering love and strength. His presence always seemed to brighten the room, much like his subtle, dry wit, which brought laughter to everyone who knew him. A man of many talents, Brian made sure never to flaunt them, but his quiet pride in his accomplishments was unmistakable.
Brian was a devoted husband to his wife, Jamie, and a loving father to their children, Robert (Kristen), Jennifer (Ben), and Matthew (Johanna). He was also a cherished brother to Ransley (Pati) and Bob (Gail). As a true Pop Pops to Fletcher, Aviva, Everett, and Adelyn, his unwavering support and dedication will be deeply missed.
Throughout his life, Brian was curious and adventurous, never shying away from a spontaneous escapade or a new idea. His tenacious spirit and persistence enabled him to overcome countless challenges. No matter the situation, Brian had the uncanny ability to make himself at home, adapting and finding rest in even the most unlikely places.
Brian's commitment to his work at the National Park Service exemplified his hardworking nature. He was a great listener and had a genuine curiosity about the world and the people in it. He sought to understand the perspectives of others, fostering a sense of tolerance and acceptance that was truly inspiring.
Outside of his family and career, Brian was deeply involved in his community. He volunteered at the Westminster Police Department, providing support to his fellow citizens and making the community a better place for all.
In honor of his legacy, let us remember Brian Charles Olson for the remarkable man he was – a rock, a guide, and an ever-constant source of humor. We will cherish his memory and continue to seek understanding, adventure, and laughter, just as he would have wanted us to do. Rest in peace, dear Brian. You will be forever missed.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that those wishing to honor Brian's memory consider making a donation to the Myotonic Dystrophy Foundation at https://www.myotonic.org/donate-towards-myotonic-dystrophy-care-and-cure, in support of his son-in-law Ben and grandson Fletcher's ongoing battle with the condition.
