Brenda Mae Salas, a beacon of love and resilience, passed away on May 16, 2024, at the age of 72 in Littleton, Colorado. Born on May 1, 1952, in Roswell, New Mexico, Brenda's life was a tapestry of love, and an unwavering spirit of adventure.
Brenda is preceded in death by her parents Geneva Torrez and William J. Burnett. Her life was a journey of learning and caring that began with her roots in Roswell and blossomed as she made her home with her daughters in Colorado. A proud graduate of the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs, Brenda's intelligence and compassion found their true calling in her work as a caregiver for the elderly, a teacher and her invaluable work with at-risk youth. She touched the lives of many with her kindness and her innate ability to understand and connect with those in need.
Her adventurous rebellious soul was complemented by her handy skills, often surprising her loved ones with her ability to fix almost anything around the house and under the hood of a car. Brenda's intelligence was not just academic; it was practical and woven into the fabric of her daily life. She used her hands and heart to make the world a better place, both in her professional endeavors and in the loving home she created for her family.
Brenda's greatest joy was her family. She is survived by her loving daughters, Erica Segovia and her husband Matthew, and Chelsi Jiminez and her husband Pancho. Brenda was the proud grandmother to six grandchildren, Jaelyn, Izabella, Aiden, Zakary, Livia and Gabriel, who were the light of her life and her legacy of love. She is also survived by her seven brothers and sisters and their families, Joe, Fernando, Ida, Billy, Linda, Gary and Richard.
Brenda had a passion for the simpler pleasures in life. She loved frogs and her Dallas Cowboys. She was an avid fisher, often found by the water's edge, basking in the serenity of nature. She also cherished the moments spent watching movies, where she could escape into stories and adventures that mirrored her own zest for life. Above all, Brenda valued the time spent with her family and friends, understanding that these moments were the true treasures of life.
Brenda's life was a testament to her adventurous spirit, her intelligence, and her handy skills. She approached life with a rare blend of rebellion, determination and love, leaving a lasting impact on the hearts of those she encountered.
