Brenda Sue Heck, affectionately known as Sue to her friends and family, passed away peacefully on February 10, 2025. At 10:33 PM. She was at the age of 79, and lived in Castle Rock, Colorado where she suffered a stroke due to a blood clot in the brain in the morning on January 29th
Sue was born on June 10, 1945, in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. Her radiant spirit and unwavering kindness touched the lives of everyone she met.
Sue grew up in the warm and close-knit community of Mt. Vernon, Illinois, where she attended local schools and laid the foundation for a life characterized by love, generosity, and kindness. After completing her education, she embarked on a career that saw her happiest when her hands were busy. Sue's favorite work involved cleaning—there was no task too big or too small that she would not tackle with enthusiasm and dedication. She also enjoyed working as a demo food associate at Costco and Sam's Club, where her friendly demeanor made her a favorite among customers and colleagues alike.
However, the role that Sue cherished the most was that of a homemaker. She took immense pride in raising her two sons, Larry D Heck and Danny W Heck, instilling in them the values of hard work and compassion. Her husband, Larry E Heck, stood by her as a pillar of support throughout their life together, sharing moments of joy and challenge alike. Her family was the cornerstone of her life, including her beloved daughter-in-law Glenda, cherished grandsons Cody and Logan, and her caring sisters Sally (Boswell) Lisenby and Karen (Boswell) Lyday. Sue also held a special place in her heart for her brother, Constantine Fradelos.
Sue's interests were as unique and vibrant as her personality. She found joy and excitement in playing slot machines at the Black Hawk casinos and was an aficionado of scratch tickets. Her approach to gambling was a reflection of her approach to life—moderate and balanced. She never chased after significant wins, nor did she suffer substantial losses, always mindful of the simple pleasure found in the experience itself.
Those who knew Sue would describe her as the epitome of loving, generous, and kind. She had a way of making people feel valued and loved, and her presence was a source of comfort and happiness. As the famous poet Maya Angelou once said, "People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel." Sue embodied this sentiment, leaving behind a legacy of warm memories and loving moments that will continue to be cherished by all who were fortunate enough to have known her.
Sue's life was a testament to the power of love and the importance of family. She will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her unwavering commitment to her loved ones, and her ability to find joy in the simple things in life. Her memory will live on not only in the hearts of her family but also in the countless lives she touched with her kindness.
