Amy Lynn Bailey was a beacon of light and laughter who lived her life with a contagious joy that touched everyone she met. Born on June 16, 1971, in Denver, Colorado, Amy's journey through life was one marked by a deep-seated passion for connection, both with people and with the many animals she adored. On December 25, 2025, in Parker, Colorado, Amy's story on this earth came to a close, but her spirit and the memories she created will continue to thrive in the hearts of those who loved her.
Amy was the cherished daughter of Charles (Chuck) Nixon and Linda Coughlin and was a loving sister to Chris Nixon and Ryan Coughlin. Amy was the stepdaughter to Roxanne, stepsister to Anthony, Michelle, Joey along with being an aunt to many who loved her so. Yet, her greatest legacy, however, is her beloved daughter, Athena Bailey, who was the true north of Amy's compass, her pride and joy.
In her academic pursuits, Amy was what one might call a professional student, always hungry for knowledge and eager to acquire new skills. She amassed an impressive array of certificates, each reflecting her diverse interests and her never-ending curiosity. Professionally, Amy dedicated herself to the healthcare field as a compassionate phlebotomist and also shared her big heart with furry friends as a devoted pet sitter.
Amy's Christian faith was a cornerstone of her life, providing her with strength and guidance. She lived her beliefs not just in word, but in action, demonstrating the love and kindness that are at the heart of her faith. Her sense of humor was an integral part of her spirituality; she knew that laughter was a gift from God and she shared it generously.
Her interests were as varied as the playlists of the hairbands and heavy metal bands she adored. Amy found joy in the simple things – watching episodes of "I Love Lucy," diving into a good book, and spending quality time with her friends and family. She was often the life of the party, with a ready joke and a laugh that could light up a room. Not to mention her fabulous sense of fashion, often choosing to adorn herself in rhinestones, animal prints, and (faux) fur. Amy shared her love of edgy glamour with her interior spaces as well. She was unapologetically and effortlessly cool, yet down to earth and very easy to talk to. She made friends and family feel like they could talk to her about anything.
Those who knew Amy would describe her as funny, passionate, and kind – a woman who could find humor in the everyday and who approached life with an enthusiasm that was truly infectious. She had a way of making every moment count and reminding us all to not take life too seriously. In the words of the beloved comedian Robin Williams, "You're only given a little spark of madness. You mustn't lose it." Amy not only embraced her spark of madness, she turned it into a fireworks display.
As we remember Amy, we celebrate a life lived with gusto and generosity. She was a woman who danced to the rhythm of her own drum, who loved with her whole heart, and who laughed in the face of adversity. Amy Lynn Bailey may have left the stage, but her encore will resonate forever in the stories we share, the laughter we remember, and the love she left behind.
God gifted us with her presence and it was her time to be called home, fly away sweet angel. We love you xoxo
