Alicia Taylor Obituary

Alicia Janine Taylor of Denver, Colorado, beloved friend and family, left us in the late morning on September 15, 2025.

A presence of deep kindness without judgment, to know her was to love her, and to be loved. She is survived by her chosen family of souls lucky enough to have known her.

Alicia was a brilliant, funny, sweet and gentle soul with a sharp wit and wry sense of humor. She passionately loved music, and saw countless concerts, including Hole, David Bowie, Nine Inch Nails, and They Might Be Giants.

She was a voracious reader who adored Stephen King. A fan of 90s comedy shows that helped shape her own droll humor: The Simpsons, Golden Girls, and Frasier. Her wit was unmatched and will be sorely missed. She once said, "I live in Denver so I'm used to, "drive five hours and your only reward is being in Kansas—a few years later, a friend introduced me to Cincinnati chili, and that town made even less sense."

She believed in queer rights, human rights, and equality for all people. She was caring, full of love, and never hesitated to give to others. She loved her friends, and would brighten anyone’s day with a joke or a book of Madlibs. She loved creating with her friends and inviting others to explore their own creativity.

Intensely artistic and gifted, Alicia was a talented writer, an imaginative painter, and student of the arts. She was a glamorous presence who believed in beauty inside and out. Though she wasn't religious, she was always spiritual and believed in the good of others and of the world. She would jokingly say, "I swear on a stack of Urban Decay eyeshadows (the only thing sacred to me)"

An adventurous spirit and romantic at heart, she traveled to the far ends of the world, including to South Africa to bungee jump from the world’s tallest bridge, wandered the foggy streets of London, and saw all of the treasures of the Louvre. She had experiences many would shy away from, and followed where her curiosity led.

A sensitive soul, she felt so many of life’s pains too deeply, and suffered them all with grace. The title of her favorite song, La Tristesse Durera by Manic Street Preachers was tattooed on the inside of her wrist.

Life has been unfaithful

And it all promised so so much

A song about a forgotten war hero. To those privileged to know her, she fought well and will be remembered forever. She always insisted on finding the beauty in life and she will live on in our hearts as a lesson and a masterclass in love.

Here I will repeat the poem read for Erik Christides at his memorial by Rozz Williams in tribute:

Forgotten at any cost this dream will never fade. Raid the gates of heaven and love will meet you there. Wings my child, wings always belong to you. The fiddle played on while burning. There is more left in the bowl of palm mouthful. Soon to be sick, this servant of God crying and known to fulfill insolent tempers. A city in which we live dreams. Triumph on the back of the steer. Climb higher, which he has. Let the sun shine on him. Let the rain fall on him. As all mortals perish, sleep in peace. We are amateurs. All of us. Water in our hands.

To quote a passage from her favorite book, 11.22.63 by Stephen King,

"We never know which lives we influence, or when, or why."

Alicia deeply loved animals, including her beloved dogs Chewie and Thor, and cat Barnaby whose love helped to bring her joy. Please consider donating to https://humanecolorado.org/ in her memory
